With so many Canon PowerShot Reviews sites out there, my goal is to give you a good idea of what the Canon PowerShot can do photographically instead of reviewing a specific model of the amazing camera line.

Being an owner of a couple different models of the Canon PowerShot and a Canon DSLR, I can personally say that they’re incredible cameras. I had a hard time deciding to leave my old school Canon 33mm SLR. I wasn’t sure digital photography could ever capture the world like film could.

That being said, I have concluded that both digital and film photography have their own place and their own way of helping the photographer capture the world as they see it and want it shared.

I digress; let’s get to the good stuff about the PowerShot!

The Canon PowerShot has been around for awhile and there are countless models. Canon continues to produce higher and higher quality cameras (which is why I have more than one PowerShot). I have the PowerShot SD 400 and the PowerShot SD750. You can’t find these models anymore because Canon has updated their stock and improved upon these models.

What you can expect from you PowerShot is a very user friendly experience. For such a small camera you can control so much or allow the automated functions of the camera to take over and produce high quality and very sharp pictures.

I still can’t believe how sharp my pictures turned out on my “old” PowerShot cameras. Not to be too cliché, but if I had a nickel for every time someone said, “Wow, these pictures turned out great!” I’d be a bazillionaire.

Those words almost always came from a good friend who was standing next to me taking pictures of the same even/subject at the same time. There have even been a few instances where a buddy was showing off some great pictures then asked to see my pictures from the same event and then walked away in silence because my pictures turned out clearer, sharper, and brighter.

I’ve noticed that the Canon PowerShot seems to capture colors better than other cameras. I’ve taken my PowerShot into the canyon and taken some beautiful pictures at the turn of fall and the yellows and reds seemed so vibrant and bright.

I’ve also taken some great action pictures with the PowerShot. The Canon PowerShot has a great sports mode. After I get the settings (f-stop, ISO, etc.) set up the way I want the secret I use to get great action shots is I hold down the shutter release half way down and hold it there until the exact moment I want the picture taken. Holding down the shutter release button half way also allows me to choose where I want the camera to meter the light and lock that in for the picture.

If you get nothing other than this in my PowerShot reviews, remember these points: the PowerShot takes sharper pictures, has better coloring in its pictures, is super user friendly, very durable and reliable, and you get excellent quality for a little price.

Mark here again, helping the amateur photographer wade through the best Canon PowerShot reviews with this small blog about the Canon PowerShot. Like I’ve mentioned before, I’m not here to review a specific model of the Canon PowerShot, but to give you a good idea of what the camera can do.

The entire Canon PowerShot series has a fantastic zoom lens built into them. Most models will have great optical zoom capabilities and very stable digital zoom capabilities as well. The stabilizer that is built into the camera is excellent. I’ve taken great pictures off of a cruise ship at far off “subjects” (sailboats, islands, whales) and they turned out clear and surprisingly sharp.

One aspect of the Canon PowerShot that I’ve learned to love (being a former SLR film guy) is the in-depth ability to customize the settings. For a “point and shoot” camera I feel like I can really tweak the settings to help me create the photographic moment I want to capture.

Even though some of the custom settings are still automatic, more or less, I love that I can choose the brightness (F-stop), speed (ISO), and the color scale the camera will use (helps make pictures vibrant, or soft, etc).

I remember buying a certain brand of film to make the blues bluer or another brand of film to make the greens greener when developed. With the Canon PowerShot, the camera seems to make all the colors more “er” than normal. I love it!

The Canon PowerShot also has some great helpful features for the user/photographer. It has an option to turn on grid lines to help you really see how you’re framing your picture and using the rule of thirds. You can also change if the camera meters the light in one specific area of you can have it balance the light by metering in multiple areas.

The multi-metering option really helps the user/photographer capture clear pictures in the “real world” (not on a set with controlled lighting). Another really cool feature is you can print your pictures right from the camera. I know that my nephew has really enjoyed taking pictures with me and then coming home and printing the pictures right then on my home printer. Sure beats waiting a week for your film to be shipped out, developed, and shipped back.

In my opinion, the crowning accomplishment of the Canon PowerShot is that you get all these cool user friendly features and sharp quality pictures and the camera can literally fit in your pocket. I still have my camera bags with multiple lenses and filters and gizmos and gadgets to help me get a quality picture.

It’s amazing to me that a small compact camera can do so much and produce such high quality photographs. There are a lot of compact digital cameras out there on the market but I haven’t found a camera that has combined quality photography with easy to use features.

The Canon PowerShot truly lives up to its name. There are several models of the PowerShot to choose from so check out amazon.com or other retailers to read the best Canon PowerShot reviews so you can select the PowerShot that fits your needs the best.

My name is Mark and if you’ve been considering purchasing a digital camera I assume you’ve read a few PowerShot Reviews Canon’s popular compact digital camera. I’ve personally fallen in love with this “point and shoot” camera and I’d like to tell you why.

First off, I’m not going to really review a specific PowerShot model because I own a couple Canon PowerShot models and for the most part they all seem to function the same. The only difference is that Canon improves the PowerShot year after year (which is amazing because each model is a great digital camera in its own right).

Just so you know, I own a couple of the ELPH SD PowerShot models; the first model I purchased was the ELPH SD 400.

Being a former venturous amateur photographer (who still dabbles with new concepts from time to time) I had a hard time switching from film cameras to a digital camera. I was a little too idealistic and a little ignorant, I must admit, and that’s what made my transition so tardy.

What pushed me over the proverbial digital camera hill was the need for a small, compact camera for a “man trip” I was taking with a few buddies. We didn’t have room for all my usual camera gear so I went to a retailer on “Black Friday” and purchased a Canon PowerShot after talking at length with one of the associates.

What I wasn’t expecting on this “man trip” were the amazing pictures and video I shot on the water and dunes. I was honestly dumbfounded at how fantastic the pictures turned out. The quality of the pictures made it easy for me to put aside my pride and actually love my new digital camera.

What I loved about my new PowerShot, besides the high resolution and high quality pictures, was the ease of use. I love how easy it is to customize the camera settings to capture the images I want the way I want.

And if you don’t want to spend the time changing the settings as the light and speed of the subject change, the auto features do a fantastic job at capturing excellent pictures.

After I had such a great experience with my new Canon PowerShot I went to amazon.com and started to read what other people were saying in their PowerShot reviews canon. Not surprisingly I found a lot of very favorable reviews with the inevitable consumer who wouldn’t be happy even if the camera spit out $100 bills after every picture.

What I didn’t find were in-depth reviews about the Canon PowerShot. I read a lot of “I LOVE IT!!!!” and, “BEST CAMERA EVER! OMG!!!” type of reviews. I’m sure Canon finds those reviews cute but they didn’t help me understand why I would want to walk away from my trusty Canon SLR film camera. That’s why I started this blog, to help the consumer understand, anecdotally, why they would like the Canon PowerShot digital camera.

Check in with me from time to time to get more blogs about why I’ve fallen in love with my Canon PowerShot. I’ve always preferred Canon cameras over other brands and I continue this preference in the digital camera world as well. I hope this PowerShot Reviews Canon has been helpful and informative.
