With so many Canon PowerShot Reviews sites out there, my goal is to give you a good idea of what the Canon PowerShot can do photographically instead of reviewing a specific model of the amazing camera line.

Being an owner of a couple different models of the Canon PowerShot and a Canon DSLR, I can personally say that they’re incredible cameras. I had a hard time deciding to leave my old school Canon 33mm SLR. I wasn’t sure digital photography could ever capture the world like film could.

That being said, I have concluded that both digital and film photography have their own place and their own way of helping the photographer capture the world as they see it and want it shared.

I digress; let’s get to the good stuff about the PowerShot!

The Canon PowerShot has been around for awhile and there are countless models. Canon continues to produce higher and higher quality cameras (which is why I have more than one PowerShot). I have the PowerShot SD 400 and the PowerShot SD750. You can’t find these models anymore because Canon has updated their stock and improved upon these models.

What you can expect from you PowerShot is a very user friendly experience. For such a small camera you can control so much or allow the automated functions of the camera to take over and produce high quality and very sharp pictures.

I still can’t believe how sharp my pictures turned out on my “old” PowerShot cameras. Not to be too cliché, but if I had a nickel for every time someone said, “Wow, these pictures turned out great!” I’d be a bazillionaire.

Those words almost always came from a good friend who was standing next to me taking pictures of the same even/subject at the same time. There have even been a few instances where a buddy was showing off some great pictures then asked to see my pictures from the same event and then walked away in silence because my pictures turned out clearer, sharper, and brighter.

I’ve noticed that the Canon PowerShot seems to capture colors better than other cameras. I’ve taken my PowerShot into the canyon and taken some beautiful pictures at the turn of fall and the yellows and reds seemed so vibrant and bright.

I’ve also taken some great action pictures with the PowerShot. The Canon PowerShot has a great sports mode. After I get the settings (f-stop, ISO, etc.) set up the way I want the secret I use to get great action shots is I hold down the shutter release half way down and hold it there until the exact moment I want the picture taken. Holding down the shutter release button half way also allows me to choose where I want the camera to meter the light and lock that in for the picture.

If you get nothing other than this in my PowerShot reviews, remember these points: the PowerShot takes sharper pictures, has better coloring in its pictures, is super user friendly, very durable and reliable, and you get excellent quality for a little price.
